Scout Agent outcomes

What counts as completed work, how we measure it, and what you pay for

Written by Carl Martin

Scout handles supply chain work on the Cartograph platform. Outcome charges are tied to completed work: a confirmed order line, a verified lead time, or a resolved delivery discrepancy.

Outcome pricing

The price depends on the type of work, Scout’s role, and how many units reach the required outcome. A single task can include several billable units.

Completed units × the applicable rate = outcome charges

For example, confirming 10 purchase order lines produces 10 outcome units. The number of emails or follow-ups does not multiply that outcome charge.

See Scout Agent usage charges for published prices. Your workspace’s active rate card determines the rate applied to your usage.

What counts as an outcome?

Cartograph records the result for each unit when a task is completed. A billable unit must have an achieved outcome, a valid completion, and a recorded contribution from Scout as lead or assistant.

General task

Task

The task’s outcome is confirmed.

Scout leads

Scout attempts to complete the task on its own. Achieved units recorded with Scout leading use the lead rate for that type of work.

Scout assists

Scout helps your team complete the task faster. Achieved units recorded with Scout assisting use the assist rate. Units completed by people without Scout’s contribution have no Scout outcome charge.

How outcomes are billed

  • Measured per unit. Purchase order lines, shipments, supplied items, and general tasks each have a defined billing unit.

  • Only achieved outcomes qualify. Unresolved, failed, cancelled, escalated, invalid, and out-of-scope units are excluded.

  • Partial results are counted individually. If only some units succeed, only those qualifying units contribute to the outcome charge.

  • Completion checks come first. A completion marked invalid or suppressed does not create outcome charges.

  • The same completion is not charged twice. Reprocessing a recorded completion does not create duplicate charges.

When a completed task is reopened

Reopening a completed task for Scout to continue invalidates the previous completion and reverses its outcome charges. A later completion is measured again using its recorded results and Scout’s participation.

Telephone usage

Telephone usage is billed separately from task outcomes. A task with no billable outcome can still have telephone usage charges.

Frequently asked questions

Can one task have multiple outcome charges?

Yes. A task covering several order lines or shipments can produce one charge for each qualifying completed unit. A general task is measured as a task.

Does every supplier reply count?

No. A reply alone is not a billable outcome. The unit must meet the task’s outcome requirements and be recorded as achieved in a valid completion.

What if someone on my team helps?

Human involvement does not automatically make a unit free. Billing follows the contribution recorded for each unit: Scout leads, Scout assists, or human-only. Human-only units have no Scout outcome charge.

Do you charge for custom task types?

Enterprise customers can work with our Sales team to deploy custom task types, allowing Scout to take on more work. Our Sales team will develop custom pricing for these task types.

Where can I review my usage?

Open Settings → Usage in Cartograph to review usage, or Settings → Billing for billing information. These settings require the appropriate workspace permissions.

Do these rules cover every charge?

This page explains Scout task outcomes. Enterprise capabilities, telephone usage, and any other charges in your agreement are separate.
